80,000 Priority Club Points from Chase

I’m a bit cold on my love affair with Starwood now that I just got my second hotel point credit card, Priority Club Rewards for the InterContinental Group (IHG).** I still really like my SPG Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Card, but I was able to get an awesome deal for 80,000 Priority Club Rewards points with the Chase Signature Visa. I followed this old link on FlyerTalk (awesome site!) and–ka ching–I got 80,000 points with my first purchcase and no fee the first year. Not to mention a free night after each anniversary. This new card has some fantastic perks that Starwood doesn’t come close to touching!

Points can be used at the following IHG hotels:

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts
Crowne Plaza
Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Resorts, Holiday Inn Express
Staybridge Suites
Candlewood Suites
Hotel Indigo

Point Break Deals

Priority Club runs special “Point Break” deals that only cost 5000 points per night. Locations and booking periods change but you can get some great deals for a cool spontaneous vacation that would normally cost 12,000 or more points per night. Here’s the link with the current offerings…Point Break Deals.

For example–
The Holiday Inn, The Dead Sea in Jordan is 5000 per night, normally 25,000.
The Holiday Inn Express, Brentwood (Los Angeles) is 5000, normally 15,000.
Candlewood Suites Atlanta (20 minutes from downtown) is 5000, normally 15,000.

Cash & Points

Priority Club also has a cash & points option similar to SPG Starwood where you can use fewer points and a little cash (ex. $40 per night) to make your points stretch farther for longer vacations.

FREE Night Stay at Every Anniversary of Having the Card

After paying the annual fee of $49, you get a free night certificate to use at any Priority Club property, including pricey InterContinental properties. What a great way to spend a special night for an anniversary, wedding gift to someone, birthday present, etc. I am thinking about using the certificate at the InterContinental In Paris for our anniversary. It costs $582 that night without a certificate! I can’t wait! (I’m sure the hotel staff will love to see us come in the door with our backpacks!)

Bonus Points for Using the Card

You can build bonus points by strategically using the card:
2 points per dollar on gas, groceries and restaurants
5 points per dollar spent at Priority Club properties

Applying for the Card

When applying through the link above, read the comments. The application page doesn’t show the 80,000 points offer but when you get the card, call Chase before activating it to verify your deal is 80,000 points upon first purchase, no fee the first year and a free night certificate on the first-year anniversary.

**In addition to the Priority Club card I got last week, I also got the Chase Ink Business Bold MasterCard that I will write about in another post.
