If you are new to getting bonus miles, here are a few tips and strategies:

  • Business is a loose term in the credit card world. You do not need a tax ID; you can use your social security number. You must have some sort of income from a business but it can be a part-time business.
  • You may hold a personal card and a business card that are both Citibank AAdvantage.
  • Make sure you can meet the spending requirements. You do not need to meet the requirement strictly with business purchases.
  • Take a screen shot of the deal so you can verify later on that you got the deal you signed up for.
  • When you get the card in the mail, DO NOT simply call the number to activate the card–you should call the 800-number on the back of the card and speak to a representative to verify you are getting the bonus deal you signed up for.
  • If you and your significant other have separate businesses, you should try for two separate accounts to get double the bonus.
  • Keep track of your miles and make sure they post correctly on your AAdvantage account.
  • Use the shopping portal on AA.com and use the Citibank AAdvantage card when purchasing to get bonus miles.
